RTS Forestry are the leading infrastructure woodland clearance company.
We have undertaken tree clearance works for overhead line and renewable energy projects across Scotland, England and Wales, often working as principle contractor under the CDM regulations. Our management team and contractors have developed extensive experience in working within the exacting environmental and health and safety standards which these projects demand and hold appropriate NEBOSH and SMSTS training. Recent projects have involved innovate brash removal and mulching operations in addition to the standard harvester/forwarder approach.
With well over one million tonnes harvested from Windfarm sites alone, 20 years experience and our experience in contributing to the development process we are uniquely placed to deliver these complex projects. We are continually engaged on these projects building experience and best practice knowledge to guarantee project delivery.

Safety & Environmental
The key to our success in this field has been the development of a specialist management team delivering these projects led by Harvesting Director Ross Kennedy. Our project managers for major windfarm projects are specialists in CDM projects, not conventional timber Harvesting and Marketing Managers.
Windfarm and Hydro schemes require forestry integration within the wider construction project, with our experience of our 100 development sites our team has a wealth of experience to contribute to the overall project.
All managers and supervisors deployed to these projects hold NEBOSH, SMSTS or SSSTS training in addition to the standard FAW and FISA certification held by all RTS Forestry managers
Timber Production
Timber clearance often results in the requirement for timber marketing. RTS Forestry has developed a key position within the Scottish timber harvesting and marketing industry as a leading and fully independent timber company. With access to all the major timber markets, the return available for timber can be maximised.
For each project we select timber marketing partners who can guarantee project delivery in addition to offering leading commercial returns. Delivery of the overall project being recognised as key at every stage.
Integrated Skillset
The experience gained in our renewable/transmission consultancy division contributes to our delivery of all infrastructure projects .
Our site teams have an understanding of planning requirements and landowner/lease considerations which aid project delivery to these standards.
Whether the requirement is a comprehensive site TMP or the development of a PPP for SEPA site licence the experience we can bring across our range of sites ensure timely securing of permissions.
We equally welcome 100,000t, 500ha+ projects and smaller hydro schemes requiring minor forestry works. We are active on these projects 365 days per year continually building experience.
Innovation
We strive for innovative solutions to delivery. On a recent project in Southern Scotland a client had permission to fell only a restricted area to facilitate meteorological mast construction. We were challenged to gain plant access to this restricted area and worked within the client to develop a trackway solution
